Hector the Vacuuming Salesman
Hector was a door to door salesman of vacuum cleaners. Being only three feet tall, he often failed to make a sale when the neighbors realized he wasn't there. That's when Hector would meet Gladys, the generous neighbor.
One would think this would have bothered Hector. Yet it was quite the opposite with him. He always had a smile on his face, no matter how many times he would lose a potential sale. As a matter of fact, the only thing brighter than his smile were the plaid jackets that he would wear to work.
What even made it more interesting was the fact that Hector went door to door selling vacuum cleaners, many that were bigger than him. Hector's thin frame could hardly be seen behind the industrial strength cleaner he was trying to sell. Oftentimes the neighbors would shut the door in his face before he could even get out a hello, as they thought it was someone pulling a prank.
One day Hector made a stop to a beautiful mansion a few blocks down the road from where he lived. The owner of the house was a nice lady in her mid fifties, with whitish blonde hair, blue eyes, and a relatively thin figure. Her name was Gladys, and she had a reputation for being one of the most generous people in town. Hector was certain if he was going to make a sale to anyone, it would be her.
Hector went to the front door. There was no doorbell. Nevertheless, Hector knocked for as long as his tiny hands would allow. Gladys finally opened the door, and, fortunately, before she could close it on him, Hector made his introduction. He said he had the perfect model to clean her house.

Hector then cleaned the living room. When he was finished, Gladys asked if he could move to the dining room. Hector reluctantly agreed. Eventually Hector wound up cleaning her whole house.
When he was finished, Gladys turned to Hector, handed him a twenty dollar bill, and said "So what time can you come back next week?"
