When looking for a vacuum cleaner there are a lot of things you need to consider and take into account such as price and features. For me personally, I wanted a vacuum that could successfully vacuum the cat hair up since I have two cats. Cat hair has always been an issue for me and with them being indoor-only it is important I get a vacuum that does not just push the hair into the carpet but actually sucks it into the vacuum. The vacuum I had previously was about 15 years old, so I was a little behind when it came to what features were available on a vacuum these days. The vacuum was about 80 dollars and since it was purchased through Amazon I was entitled to free shipping. One of the best things about this vacuum cleaner is the removable debris cup and the fact you do not have to empty or replace a bag every month. Having a bagless vacuum cleaner is also less expensive due to the fact you do not need to buy bags at the store and waste your money on them. The removable debris cup is what catches the pet hair and other debris the vacuum cleaner sucks up and it is so easy to dump when needed. Some people have said that removing the cup and dumping it out is a messy process but in reality it is not. You should be on tile or hardwood the first time you remove the debris cup until you get the hang of how it works just in case you dump it on accident. I found it easier to dump the contents in the debris cup between each room so that it does not get too full. There is also a HEPA filter in this vacuum cleaner which is known to help remove over 99 percent of dust mites, pollen and other allergens for a cleaner environment. I find the HEPA filter very important since I have two indoor cats and also live in the Ohio Valley where pollen is pretty high.
The Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright also is a great vacuum cleaner because it has a headlight on it which works well in the evening. The headlight makes seeing small pieces of dirt and debris easier and ensures you are getting everything up even in poorly-lit areas. The cord is overall pretty sturdy and is 27 feet long so it is great going from one room to the other before I need to unplug the cord. It wraps around the side of the vacuum cleaner and never has gotten tangled or knotted which is important to me. If you are someone who is clumsy or often runs into the couch with a vacuum cleaner this vacuum would really be a great addition to your house. The Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright also has a bumper on the front of it which is like a rubber stopper that ensures you will not damage your furniture or walls if you run into them with the vacuum. If you are trying to vacuum really fast and end up hitting a wall you might end up chipping paint but not with this vacuum cleaner.
Now being I was not really familiar with a HEPA filter or what it did I was astonished at the increase in air quality in my house. The pet hair and dander that was roaming freely around this house just disappeared almost instantly when I started this vacuum up for the first time. In order for the HEPA filter to continue to work properly, you should clean it every month or two with warm water so it does not get clogged. I have two cats so I clean mine about once a month and typically vacuum about two or three times a week. The HEPA filter should also be replaced once a year or possibly twice a year depending how much you use the vacuum and if you have a pet. A HEPA filter can be purchased just about anywhere a vacuum is sold and will cost you about 15 dollars. The way I saw it was sure I might be spending 15 dollars to replace the HEPA filter once a year, but I am saving so much more since I do not have to buy bags for the vacuum cleaner.
The first time I used this vacuum cleaner I was amazed at the amount of dust and pet hair that came out of the carpet and was so enthused with the powerful suction. It is important though to vacuum more than one time when you first get this vacuum especially if you have not vacuumed in a while. I read online that it changes the color of your carpet and was thinking that this was impossible, but it really does. After the first time you use the vacuum cleaner you will notice your carpet is lighter than it was before, especially if you are a smoker or a pet owner. This vacuum cleaner really gets into the carpet and sucks the dust and debris out that have changed your carpet to a dingy-looking color. The Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright is also about 20 pounds which is not too heavy or too light. I am not a very strong person so I needed something I could carry around and drag from room to room without too much trouble. This vacuum is actually one of the lighter vacuum cleaners I have come across, even lighter to me than a canister vacuum.
Overall my experience with this vacuum cleaner has been nothing short of amazing and wonderful. Sometimes I just vacuum around the house because I want to see what all I can collect in the debris cup and am always amazed everyday at the amount of cat hair and dust it still collects. This vacuum has been a lifesaver to me because I never have experience a vacuum that was this powerful at such a low price. The vacuum cleaner is also not too loud either so it will not scare your pet or small child. I can even still hear the phone ring with it on which is something I could never hear with my older vacuum cleaner.
