Are "Burn Demonstrations" Adding to Unnecessary Pollution?
Add pollution and global warming to "Burn Demonstrations" for public viewing. Can't practice drills be filmed instead?
A "Burn Demonstration" is a good training exercise to keep firemen amp; women in tip top shape while expanding the publics knowledge about the dangers of fire, how quickly fire can get out of control and by showing public viewers an example of a real time fire by setting a fire.
One instance is setting wooden pallets ablaze inside a metal structure leaving an end door open so that the bystanders can see in. The fire leaps to the walls and ceiling and flames shoot out the top. Black smoke doesn't lag it jets into the sky and so does the smell that accompanies something burning.
Firemen amp; women suited up rush inside with a hose and extinguish the flames as water pours from the structure. The reenactment of a wounded fireman is shown as two men bravely carry their fellow brethren from inside the smoldering metal to safety delivering him to other firemen who can assist in first aid until the medics arrive.
"Burn Demonstrations" may seem to be routine to firemen amp; women, firemen wives amp; husbands and intriguing to public viewers but they could be deemed an unnecessary pollution contributor in addition to playing a role in the global warming factor.
One has only to breathe in the smell of what's burning at a "Burn Demonstration" to tell that possible toxins are going into the air. Chemical pollutants may be ignited when setting the fire and may engulf other pollutants in the metal structure as it burns. Even a clean burn can still give rise to smoke and smoke causes congestion.
Cutting or reducing "Burn Demonstrations" for public viewing should be altered with a clean burn using no chemical igniting pollutants and no chemical pollutants inside the metal structure to burn or through public speaking and a "Burn Demonstration" video.
While it may be necessary for firemen amp; women to have practice drills where set fires are involved "Burn Demonstrations" for public education enhanced by setting fires are not. Just like "Driver's Ed" videos showing different kinds of accidents that can occur behind the wheel of a car practice drills of firemen amp; women could be filmed and put together in such a way that when shown they could prove effective "Burn Demonstrations" for public education.
